Algebra identities

Today i will help you about the concept of algebra identities which is an important study within algebra.

An identity is that which remains true irrespective of the change of values in variables. Algebra identities are nothing but the formulas like product formulas and all which needs to be followed in algebra.

Improper fractions

Let's learn about improper fractions and its related operations in today's learning.

Fractions are rational numbers formed of a numerator and a denominator. When in a fraction the numerator is smaller than the denominator, such a fraction is called as proper fraction. On the other hand when the numerator is greater than the denominator, such a fraction is called as improper fraction.

Let's learn how to subtract fractions now. Operations with improper fractions are as simple as general fractions operations. As for examples subtracting improper fractions are as similar as subtracting fractions. The methods applied are similar. If the denominators are same, taking the common denominators, only numerators are subtracted. On the other hand if the denominators are different, finding out the LCM, taking a common denominator, subtraction operation should be performed. Similarly all other operations are performed with improper fractions.

Equivalent Fractions

Let's learn how to do equivalent fractions in today's learning. Two fractions are said to be equivalent fractions when after simplification both the fractions are equal.

After simplifying, we get

1/2 and 1/2

MIXED NUMBERS DIVISION

Mixed Numbers are a type of the number system. There are different types of numbers.

  • Composite Numbers
Mixed numbers are basically Mixed fractions. There are certain steps followed while dividing Fractions with Mixed numbers. Students can follow the following steps to how to divide mixed numbers.

Step 1. Convert the mixed number into an improper fraction.

Step 2.
Invert the second fraction upside down (this is a reciprocal) on dividing fractions.

Step 3. Then the reciprocal of second fraction is multiplied with first fraction.

Step 4. Shorten the dividing fractions.

The steps to be followed to covert a mixed number into an improper fraction are as follows:

1. Denominator of the fractional part is multiplied by whole number.

2. The number obtained above is inserted as the numerator of the fractional part to that result.

3.The denominator remains the same as of the fractional part of the original mixed number.
